Doux Bijou

Doux Bijou is a darling, Haut de Cagnes rooftop apartment (43m2). It is situated in a simple, village house on the main street of the medieval village.

You access this charming rooftop apartment by climbing a flight of stairs from ground level and then another into the apartment. At this point, you arrive in the most charming living/sitting/dining room with practically 2 walls of windows. As a result, there is an enormous amount of light, as well as views of the village, town, hills and sea.

In fact, this is open-plan in style with parquet floors and ceiling beams. The decor theme is pretty, country-cottage with colourful pictures, comfortable throws and cushions.  In addition, there are plenty of little curiosities that catch your eye. In brief, the kitchen has a wooden counter top with 2 bar stools and is well equipped. For instance there is an oven, induction hob, microwave and fridge/freezer. After that, you have a wooden dining table, which seats 4 and a comfy sofa bed (160cm) for 2. Equally important, the apartment has wifi and French television. Of course, you can just curl up on the sofa with a good book and sunlight streaming in through the windows!

From here,  you can access the bedroom or a comfortable spiral staircase goes to the rooftop terrace. . To summarise the terrace, there are 2 comfortable sun beds and a small bistro table, with seating for 4. Above all, there are incredible views of sea and village. It is the ideal place to enjoy an evening apero or do a little sunbathing. There is a small summer kitchen with electric hot plate. Even more, you have a washing machine and w.c – handy for the sofa bed guests not wishing to go through the main bedroom.

The bedroom is accessed by sliding doors off the sitting room. Similarly, it is very pretty and bright with a double bed (140cm) and sliding doors into the bathroom.  Much of the ceiling is glass. As a result it is very bright light with a shower, w.c and wash hand basin. Another key point, the apartment has air conditioning in both living room and the bedroom. This is a necessity with so many windows.

Doux Bijou really is a coup de coeur. To summarise, it is super for a couple but the sofa bed is a great option if travelling with friends or family. Unfortunately it is not suitable for pets and small children due to security in a rooftop apartment. Parents are responsible for their children’s safety.

The free shuttle bus, which runs up from the townevery 15 minutes, has a bus stop opposite the apartment. In addition, you can drop your luggage off directly in front of the building if driving. Private parking is very rare in the medieval village but there is free street parking. In addition, there is a paying village and town car parks usually within a 5-10 minute walk away. Of course, you also have the option to jump on the free shuttle bus close to both car parks.

Restaurants and cafes are a 5 minute walk away, as is the town below with its amenities. Such as, a food market,  supermarkets, bakeries, chemists, banks and selection of shops. The town has a good bus service, plus there is a train station. The sea is a 25-30 minute walk from this Haut de Cagnes apartment and a free beach bus runs in July and August.
